Anatoli Ulyanov is a social critic, political asylee, and PhD Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles.

His research on identity politics and propaganda draws extensively from the complexities of the post-Soviet experience.

Anatoli’s transdisciplinary approach toward media and culture integrates Critical Discourse Analysis, Semiotics, and Visual Anthropology to explore how memories, narratives, and symbols shape self-perception and social behavior.

Censored in both Ukraine and Russia, his work spans the creation of online platforms for democratic advocacy and the development of genocide-prevention media for the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center.

His creative projects, including documentary films and photography, center on underrepresented individuals and marginalized communities.
