Anatoli Ulyanov is a writer, refugee, and researcher at UCLA. His work spans political theory, cultural studies, and media. Drawing on 20 years in journalism and the complexities of the post-Soviet experience, he studies how propaganda shapes memory, social identities, and power dynamics.
Censored in Ukraine and Russia, his projects—rooted in Critical Discourse Analysis, Semiotics, and Visual Anthropology—include the creation of online platforms advocating for diversity and inclusion and the development of genocide-prevention media for the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center.
His creative work amplifies the voices of underrepresented individuals and marginalized communities.
